EmilyWelcome to the Art of Birth! I have had the joy of working with women and their families since 2005 when I began teaching prenatal classes. Part of the process to become a certified Childbirth Educator was to attend births. I was blown away by the raw, inner strength of a labouring woman and the visible transformation that happens as she becomes a mother. I was was hooked! Having had two lovely births of my own supported by my mother and dear friend and midwife, I've experienced how amazing and instrumental their presence was to my own birth and my husband's experience as well.
The role of the labour Doula resonated with me. I have had the privilege of supporting women in labour both at home and at the hospital. Each birth is unique in it's own way and I am grateful to these families for sharing their experiences with me. These moments help me to grow both as a Doula and as a Childbirth Educator.
